October New Releases: Costumed Cuties

In case you missed it, Monday, October 6th, saw the release of a whole new line of images. If you haven't seen them all yet, let me introduce you to them...

Sir John A. McDonald Public School recently had a Dress Up Pageant for their 2nd grade students. Many of the children participated and there were 12 in particular who went all out with their costumes.

Lily started off the pageant with her home spun cotton candy outfit. Her mom did such a great job creating it. Doesn't she look so sweet?!

Bradley was next up on stage sporting his dinosaur costume. He is quite a fan of all things dinosaur related. He is planning on having a rip roaring good time today.

Joy buzzed up onto the stage next with her cute little Bumblebee outfit. She flitted here and flitted there ensuring everyone got a good look at her costume. It really is the bee's knees isn't it?! Although, the judges better watch out if she isn't on their best dressed list. Joy packs quite a punch with that stinger!

TR went up next. He decided to dress up as an alien as he just loves all things science fiction. In fact, it is his favourite genre. His costume looks out of this world, right?!

Jenna and Joshua are next door neighbours and have been playing together since they were both in the crib. Their parents thought it would be cute to dress them up as a little bride and groom. They traipsed up on stage hand in hand while the wedding march played in the background.

Bruce plans on being a doctor when he grows up so he figured he would get some practice in today, not only looking the part but practicing the art as well. He has been busy all day dispensing out apples to help prevent his friends from having to go and see any other doctor.

Yvette is very active in general and has the tendency of popping up all over the place. So, it was only fitting that she dress up like a container of popcorn. It is a bit cheesy but that is only because she sprinkled on some fake orange flavouring at the last minute to give herself a bit more colour.

Jeremiah is always being told to settle down in class and stop clowning around. Therefore he thought it would be fitting to show up for today's pageant looking the part. Although I would advise staying away from that flower on his chest if you plan on staying dry.

Hannah just loves fairy tales and always pictures herself as the princess when her dad reads to her each night before bed. Spending today dressed up as an ice princess is a dream come true. She had fun waving to her subjects as she walked across the stage.

Brian's dad is a fireman and Brian tries to emulate his father in everything that he does. Thus, he decided to dress up just like him for today's pageant. Later on tonight he'll be taking a picture with his dad in uniform when he comes off shift. He can't wait!

Lindsey is the tiniest girl in the class and she decided that she wanted her costume to stand out; so, she decided to dress up as a strawberry. Of course in hindsight, that may not have been the best idea. Her costume turned out so realistic that people have been trying to take a bite out of her all day.

Finally that leave James. If you haven't guessed yet, this young lad's favourite season is winter. Dressing up as a snowman is his tribute to his favourite winter pastime and of course to his favourite fictional character, Frosty.

So, there you have it. Twelve adorable children all dressed up in a wide array of costumes. As each of the outfits was so different and unique, it was only fair that they were all deemed winners that day, each receiving a special badge.

Why not share one of these sweet images on a card for a special child in your own life? Whether for Hallowe'en or paired up with one of the fabulous new sentiments that Heather has come out with, any child in your life would be lucky to receive a special card from you featuring one of FBD's latest images.

August New Releases: We Have Quite a 'Tail' to Tell!

CLICK TO SEE OUR NEW DIGIS! Aug. 4 Digi Release
In case you missed it, Monday, August 4th, saw the release of a whole new line of images. If you haven't seen them yet, you are in for quite the 'tail'!

Once upon a time...in a land far, far away (at least for those of us living in North America anyway)...
There lived a small pod of merfolk in the Red Sea off the coast of Asia. You see, it has been said that the Red Sea, happens to have the warmest waters of all Earth's oceans so it is the perfect location for merfolk to live.

This story was passed on to me through an inquisitive sailor who once came across this pod of mystical creatures.  He had been lost at sea for over a week so no one believed his tall tale.  One of the merfolk that rescued him had just recently had an anniversary and so to pass the time as they helped guide the sailor to dry land, he told the sailor about his beautiful wife and family.  When the sailor was found, nary a person believed him.  Even though this merman had shared pictures of his family with the sailor, the mainland population all figured that he had just hallucinated the event and doctored up some pictures because of course, it is widely believed that mermaids and mermen do not exist.  However, I personally do believe in the magical unseen worlds that co-exist with us humans and I'd like to share this story with all of you.

In the community of Havenpond, resides a pod of merfolk.  The leader of Havenpond happens to be the wonderfully joyful Merlin Tailby.   Merlin has been a resident of this small community since he was no bigger than a tadpole.  He grew up in Havenpond, found his great love there and raised his children there as well.  He is very proud of this community and is a natural born leader.  Today I am going to focus on the story of how he met his now wife Myrtle and introduce you to the family that they have raised together.  Now remember, I did hear this second hand from a man who had been lost at sea, so some of the details may be a bit fuzzy.

This story begins with with a young merman in his early twenties.  After graduating from the University of Gillcrest in the nearby community of Coral Cove, Merlin Tailby came back home to put his degree in Marine Biology to work.  When Merlin and some of the other graduates that year came back home, there was a party in the local community centre called Trident Hall to honour the group of graduates and their accomplishments.  Now as Merlin has always been a bit shy with the mermaids, he didn't have a date.  In fact, Merlin isn't alone in that trait.  It is a well known fact among the merfolk that men are much shyer than their female counterparts.  However, Merlin's brother Fineas, seemed to be fairing better with his shyness as he had shown up with a very beautiful mermaid named Myrtle.  Now shy or not, Merlin just couldn't keep his eyes off of Myrtle that evening.  Thankfully, Fineas and Myrtle were just friends because as it turns out, Myrtle was rather drawn to Merlin as well.  Once Merlin finally got up the nerve to approach her, they spent the remainder of that night in each other's company and every day after that for the next six months.  It was at that time that Merlin decided to propose to Myrtle and I am pleased to say that they have been happily married now for over 25 years.   They have been through thick and fin, oops I mean thin, but their love for each other has always stayed constant.  Recently they had portraits done for each other to commemorate their anniversary (Merlin very generously shared copies of these images plus more with the sailor, who of course passed them on to me).
http://www.freshbreweddesigns.com/item_1024/Merlin-merman.htmhttp://www.freshbreweddesigns.com/item_1025/Myrtle--mermaid.htm

Merlin and Myrtle went on to have four beautiful daughters.  Two of them are rather outgoing and the other two are a bit shy and don't really like to have their pictures taken so we'll just have to do with the images that we were provided with.

The baby of the family is Marisol.  She is a lovely young girl about the age of 16.  She is definitely a little shy among strangers but like all youngest children, she is still babied by her parents and older siblings and will continue to be for the remainder of all time.   Marisol is rather charming when she wants to be and is well liked by her close circle of friends.  She is also very artistic and has an affinity for making jewellery.  Since baubles and accessories are prized items in the mermaid culture she will have a strong career ahead of her.  Once she graduates high school she is headed to the Laguna College of Art and Design.  She still has a year to go but she can't wait.

Oceane is the second youngest and is 18.  She is extremely confident and very social.  She tends to be the focus of any and all social situations.  Oceane's passion lies in hair and makeup and she is currently in her second year of cosmetology school.  She is attending Aphrodite Academy located in Conch Falls.  As this community is a few hours swim from home, she remains in the dormitory during the week and comes home on the weekends.  It is a good thing that she is a natural at the trade because when she is home, she is out swimming and hanging out with all of her friends.  Although she does make sure to spend a bit of time each of the days she is home with her family as well.

Then there is Memory.  Memory is also pretty shy.  At the age of twenty, she has decided that looking after the youngest members in the community is where her true passion lies.  Therefore, she is currently working in the local hatchery tending to all the baby fish, crustaceans and other sea creatures that have recently been born.  She is also a bit of a day dreamer and spends long hours just sitting and staring out to sea.  She is avidly interested in the worlds beyond her own.  Thus, when her father told her the story of how he met up with the lost sailor, she listened intently to his words.  These days, she spends time looking for her own sailor to rescue.  Yes, she is definitely the dreamer of the family.
http://www.freshbreweddesigns.com/item_1023/Memory--mermaid.htm

Finally, that brings us to Drema who is the oldest child at the age of 22.  Like all her sisters she is very beautiful.  She tends to be a bit of a perfectionist and is definitely a high achiever.  She is currently enrolled in Gillcrest and she plans on following in her father's footsteps by becoming a Marine Biologist as well.  She plans on staying in Havenpond.  Also like her father, being a contributing member to her community is very important to her.  In fact, she will be graduating in just a couple of weeks and as tradition dictates, will be honoured in a party at Trident Hall, just like her father was.  But you see, there is a secret that Drema has been keeping.  In her heart there is someone that she has been attracted to for some time now but has been too shy to meet him.  He will be attending the Trident Hall event and she is hoping that she'll finally get up enough nerve to approach him.
So, there you go. Four beautiful daughters and a lovely wife.  Merlin has a wonderful family indeed and he is very proud of each and every one of them.  He is always bragging about them to anyone who will listen so it is fortuitous that he was the one to find the sailor as it gave him one more opportunity to talk about his amazing family.

But our story doesn't stop there.  For you see there is another shy merman in this community who will also be graduating and honoured during the same graduating class as Drema.  His name is Marinus and he is rumoured to be a decendent of the Greek god Triton himself and thus there is no stronger lineage that he could have.  He will graduating with a combined degree in Marine Biology and Business and plans to be actively involved in the politics around town.  In fact, he has been apprenticing with Merlin for the last year and Merlin has become rather fond of him.   Marinus also has a secret.  He has been very taken with Drema for the past little while.  Of course he thinks it is a secret but anyone who sees him looking at Drema, knows instantly how he is feeling (which is why Merlin was able to include this in his discussion with the sailor).
Will the fates shine upon Marinus during the upcoming graduation party?  Will he finally get up the courage to ask Drema out?  Considering Drema's secret crush is on Marinus, the odds are good that these two are meant for each other.  Will their path together begin that night at the party, just like her parents did so long ago?  Well, we'll just have to wait and see, won't we!

It is up to you whether or not you believe this tail, oops I mean tale.  We are surrounded by an incredible world filled with beauty and mysticism and there are many areas yet to be discovered.  Who's to say that there aren't magical realms out there as well.  I believe in the possibilities, do you?

Let your imagination take you away to a new and interesting world.  Each of the images in this new collection would be suitable for a variety of occasions.  As always, you are only limited by your creative thinking.

Be sure to go and check all of the new merfolk related images available in the Fresh Brewed Designs store.  You can find them all in the Mermaids and Fairies section.  Clicking HERE will take you to that section.   Or, you can click on any one of the individual images to go directly to their spot in the store.
I'll leave you today with this final word:  Maluhia.  Among its definition are the words peace and serenity.  May your days always be filled with peace in your heart and serenity in your soul.

Maluhia everyone!

Until next time,

July New Releases: There is Some Monkey Business Going On

In case you missed it, Monday, July 14th, saw the release of a whole new line of images. If you haven't seen them yet, you are going to go bananas over these cute little critters!

Let's check them out...
First, let's meet Betsy.  Today is a pretty special day for Betsy.  It is her birthday!  Betsy thinks that she is just going to spend the day with one of her friends and then hang out for a bit with the rest of the group at their local haunt, Banana Rama.  However, her friends have planned a birthday party for her.  Looks like Betsy is in for quite the surprise.  Literally!

This is Bubbles.  Bubbles happens to be Betsy's best friend and she is responsible for getting Betsy to the party on time.  She has a full day of activities planned to keep Betsy occupied.  First up, Bubbles is taking Betsy over to the Funky Monkey Grooming Salon for some grooming and pampering.   After that, they are headed to the theatre to see a matinée of the new, recently released Dawn of the Planet of the Apes movie.  Apparently both Betsy and Bubbles have a crush on Caesar and have been anxiously waiting to see him is this latest sequel.   The final stop before the surprise party will be a quick shopping trip to their favourite clothing store Banana Republic, so that Bubbles can buy an nice new dress for Betsy to wear that evening.  Bubbles usually buys Betsy a gift each year so it shouldn't raise Betsy's suspicions that anything is up other than meeting the gang for dinner.

How many restaurants do you know of, that have live banana trees growing inside for their patrons?  Well, I know of only one.  It is called Banana Rama and it is THE spot for all the local chimps, apes, orangutans and other hip primates in the area.   Banana Rama has a special room that can be reserved for small parties and this is where the remaining members of the group are currently waiting.  It is time to meet them.

This is Louie.  Louie is the one in charge of getting everything set up over at Banana Rama.  He has been friends with Bubbles and Betsy for years and always has a good time when he hangs out with them.  However, lately he has been itching to spend a little bit more time specifically with Betsy.  You see, he has a bit of a crush on her and plans on asking her out at the end of the party.  We'll just have to keep our eyes on those two and see if anything develops between them.   For right now though, he still has a bit of setting up to do, so we'll let him get on with it.

Finally, it is time to meet Clyde.  Clyde is psyched that the party is at Banana Rama since it happens to be his favourite restaurant. It has an all-you-can-eat buffet and as you can see, he is already indulging.  Clyde is one of those primates who just loves to hang out and have fun.  Hopefully, he won't get into too much trouble tonight.

Since Louie is responsible for organizing the party he is also in charge of the menu and currently he is sampling one of the wonderful chocolate-chip banana cupcakes that are a speciality of Banana Rama.  It is important for him to make sure that the food is of the highest quality to ensure that everyone has a wonderful experience.  It is almost time for Bubbles to bring Betsy in, so Louie needs to finish everything up quickly to prepare for their arrival.

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle!  It looks like the surprise came off without a hitch.  Betsy was thrilled that all of her friends thought so highly of her to plan something so special.  It will definitely be a day and night she never forgets.  Louie caught a really great picture of her blowing out the candles on her birthday cake.

After several hours of monkeying around, the party is finally wrapping up.  Of course Clyde couldn't help himself to one last treat atop the banana tree.  The evening turned out fabulous and everyone had a great time.  It will be fun to see what these guys have planned for us next!

The following day...

Oooh, it looks like Louie finally got up the nerve to ask Betsy out.  Just look at the two of them enjoying that banana split milkshake.  One desert, two straws...the start of a budding love.  I can't wait to see how this relationship develops!  I can just see it...a sweet courtship followed by a circus themed wedding, and little baby monkeys down the road...ahhhhhhh...yes, I tend to be bit of a romantic.  Whether these events take place or not, I wish Louie and Betsy all the best.

Each of the above images would be great for so many different types of occasions.  You are only limited by your imagination.  Heather has also created a collection of phrases to pair up with these precious new images...
Be sure to go and check all of the new monkey related images available in the Fresh Brewed Designs store by clicking HERE

Well, that is it for this one.   I hope that you all have a great weekend ahead!

Ready, Set, Go: Time to Check Out the Latest New Releases

Thanks for moseying on by. I'm so glad you were able to find some time to make this blog one of the stops on your journey today. If you happened to miss it, on Monday, March 10th, there was a blog hop to release all the new images out this month. In case you didn't get a chance to participate, I wanted to make sure that you got the opportunity to check out all the great new images for sale.

The Design Team all took a trip with Heather's latest images. Ready? Set? Well, then off we go...
First up we have Hannah. Hannah is all bright eyed and bushy tailed as she can't wait to start this adventure called life! Do you remember what it was like when you started out on your own unique journey? Ah memories...

Boy, I wouldn't want to be this gal's porter. That is quite a stack of luggage. Wherever she is headed, she is sure to be prepared for any occasion that might come up!

You can also get the stack of luggage just on it's own. Although you'll need a little extra cash to pay for the extra baggage fees. You can tell that the person who sets baggage limits couldn't possibly be a woman. I'm sure if we had our way, we wouldn't have to pay anything extra until at least the seventh suitcase.

And talking about suitcases, did you ever have one special case that went with you everywhere you traveled as child? I did. It was hard cased and green and looked a little like this. The first thing to always go in it was my teddy bear! Me and my teddy bear did a lot of traveling when we were younger. Mostly in-province and in-country but I did get the opportunity to do a little travelling abroad as a youngster. I was lucky to see several states in the US (north east coast mainly but also Florida) and also got to go to Jamaica when I was 13 and England with my grandparents when I was 16, and yep, bear went with me there too. I miss that old suitcase of mine but at least I have all the memories from those trips I took still intact -- mostly.

This young woman looks every the inch the professional as she sets out on her very first business trip. She has packed everything she needs in her cute little carry-on. Now she just has to get through all those long lines at the airport and she'll be on her way.

This young lady seems like she is almost set for her journey. Just a few more things to squeeze in. I remember having to sit on a couple suitcases myself to get them closed.

Whether you know someone who is about to embark on a trip, know someone who is just starting out in life or know someone who is about to be on their own for the first time in a long time, any of the images from the Take a Trip collection (available on the store homepage), would be perfect for these kinds of occasions. It doesn't matter if you are wishing someone bon voyage or reminding them to relish the journey, Heather has just what you need.

Blog Hop Winner...
Participants who left a comment on each hop stop, had the opportunity to win a free digi from this release.  It is time to announce who that person is.  Congratulations...
Moni, please email Heather at freshbreweddesigns (AT) yahoo (DOT) com  (or by clicking HERE to bring the address up in your email program) to make arrangements to claim you prize.

Well, that is it for this one. Remember to savour your own journey through each day. We only get one shot at this trip through 'life'. Make sure you make the best of it.

Until next time,
