Reach for the Sky

Yes, I hear you all saying like Woody from Toy Story would!! Happy Tuesday from Pittsburgh where the wicked weather from the end of last week is over and the sun is shining. That and a nice breeze and we're ready for some kite flying. I wanted to share one of the new Keep it Simple digis as well as the coordinating Summertime digi paper. I can't tell you how much fun I had making this card. And check it out, I did some fussy cutting!!! Something I don't do very much at all!! I had to use a die cut for the sun and clouds instead of the Peek a boo sunshine digi found here. My card measures 4.25" square which gave me plenty of room across the top to extend the sun die cute out and over the edge. Love that look.

So much new and fabulous stuff being released this week that you won't want to miss... a digi release tomorrow and in the Facebook group as well as a new prize challenge also starting tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy your today!

Beach Bums + fake washi tape

Good...er ...  afternoon.

It has been rainy and messy the past few days.. which is fine. 

We need the rain and I really wanted an excuse to stay home today. 

I have had a super busy weekend leaving me little time to create. 

That is why you are getting this post SUPER LATE and I hope you will forgive me for that. 

This card features the Fresh Brewed Designs rubber stamp: Beach Bums. 

She is sassy and fun and loves summertime (when it is not raining that is :) 

I have been seeing the washi tape (like a printed masking tape)  on so many projects as well as in some really fun packages my friend has sent me recently. I have not been able to purchase any of my own, so I looked up tutorials. People have used various things from paper to tissue paper for theirs. I like the see through quality the washi tape has... so the paper is too thick for me.. and I did not have any tissue paper that was thin .... so I found the next best thing! A pack of printed napkins from my daughters birthday part that had never been opened. I thought the dots resembled bubbles well enough.

 Here is what I did to create my washi tape:

First, since this napkin was two ply, I  removed the white napkin underneath

Next I laid the napkin flat, print side down. I took strips of double sided tape, 

cut them to the length I wanted, and laid them carefully over the print I desired my tape to be. 

After that I carefully cut around the tape with my fussy cutting scissors and voila!

 My own (fake) washi tape.

The real stuff is much prettier, no doubt, but this will do in a pinch! :)

Lots of Lattes for My Snowman!

I was so excited when I saw that Fresh Brewed Designs now has digital papers!!!! And done up with my favorite latte cup and lots and lots of colors. I had to put it to use, but deciding what color and what stamp to pair it with was the hard part!!! I wanted to do Christmas in July, however, this ended up being more like Winter in July. Inside I could say Merry Christmas, right? Anyway, I used the digital image You Melt Me. I probably should have put some green on here too, but I'm such the non-traditional Christmas color kinda girl I thought red, white and black was perfect!!!

Under the Sea

Wow, what a wonderful blog hop we had this weekend! Thank you to everyone who hopped along with us! So much inspiration!!!

There's still time to play along with our fun weekly challenge, Under the Sea. I wanted to share the card I made for this challenge using the sweetest mermaid, Marina With Pearl. While on our beach vacation, I had to spend a day inside because I got a little too burnt, and she was one of the images I had colored. I knew I wanted to use this fun fishy paper too, it's from Echo Park. Once I adhered my two strips of designer paper down, I ran the whole panel thru my Big Shot with a swirl embossing folder...it reminded me of waves. Now if you want to play along, today's the last day for this challenge, but a new one starts tomorrow. Also, our month long prize challenge, Summertime, is still going strong. All the details can be found HERE.

Fresh Brewed Designs Hop Day 2

WOW!! Our first hop day was just AMAZING!

I was so excited to hop and see all of the fabulous creations myself 

(the team keep their cards a secret from me until hop day so I am surprised too ;)

Today I am sharing a card I created using the NEW released Spa Girl

*renamed from Some Things are Better Rich*

In resizing her, I realize now that I did not do such a fantastic job of it

She is really not THAT much smaller than the original size... 

so I am going to focus more on versatility today rather than size.

Here we go!

Spa Girl ORIGINAL SIZE 

was fussy cut and paper pieced on this card. 

I gently placed her on top of a SWEETHEART CUPCAKE DIGI from the

FBD shop, printed and cut out in two different sizes.

Spa Girl NEW SMALLER SIZE

This card is the same layout as the first, 

but you can see that she is a tad smaller here

The larger size is still available and still wonderful ... but now you have the option to choose which size works best for your stamping style!
All re-sized stamps are available cling mounted on 1/8 inch cling foam to use with your acrylic blocks or un-moutned. All of Fresh Brewed Designs stamps are made in the USA with deeply etched red rubber so you get a perfect impression every time!

Today I have a very simple card to share with you. 

Yesterday we posted our weekly challenge: Under The Sea

This card was created using the digi: Cordelia Waits

I was looking through my digis with my little girl and she wanted to color them all! 

So we printed as many as she wanted and started coloring. 

I added lots of shimmer with Inspirations Paint and glossy accents. 

I love purple and yellow together. I think they just have so much energy 

and are just give a very happy vibe (so to speak)  when paired together.
